Privacy Policy
Your data
This Privacy Policy explains what data Bel collects, why it is needed, how it is stored, and what you can do about it. Bel is run by Adi, the creator of the tool. You can get in touch about data questions at support@askbel.ai.
Who is responsible for your data
Adi, the creator of Bel, is the data controller for the personal data collected through this tool. Bel is run as a small, independent project and your data is used only to provide and protect the service.
What data is collected
- Your email address, used to create and access your account
- Your conversation history with Bel, so you can continue where you left off
- Basic usage information to enforce the daily question limit
- Technical information such as IP address and request timestamps, kept briefly for security and operation
Why it is collected
Your email is needed to keep your account secure and to let you sign back in. Your conversation history is stored so you do not have to start over every time you return. Usage data is kept only to protect the tool from being overused and to keep it free. Technical logs are kept to keep the service safe and running.
Sensitive health data
The questions you ask Bel may reveal information about your health, such as Bell's Palsy symptoms, treatments, or mental health. This type of information is treated as sensitive data and is handled with extra care. Do not share information you are not comfortable being processed and stored as described here.
Where it is stored and who processes it
Your data is stored securely by the services that power Bel: Lovable Cloud (hosting), Supabase (accounts and database), and Anthropic (the Claude AI that generates responses). Authentication emails, such as signup confirmations and password resets, are sent from notify.askbel.ai.
These services act as data processors on Adi's behalf. Your data is encrypted in transit and access is restricted so that only you can reach your own conversation history through your account in normal use.
International data transfers
Some of the services Bel uses, including Supabase and Anthropic, may process data in countries outside the United Kingdom and European Economic Area, including the United States. Where this happens, it is done using appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses approved for international data transfers.
How the AI works
When you ask Bel a question, your message is sent to Anthropic (the provider of the Claude AI model) so it can generate a response. Anthropic does not use messages sent through its API to train or improve its models. Your questions and Bel's replies are processed only to provide the answer and are not added to any public or general-purpose training dataset.
How long it is kept
Your account and conversation history are kept until you delete them or until your account is removed. You can delete your conversation history at any time by clicking the bin icon below your conversation thread. When you delete data it is removed from active systems, but residual copies may remain in backups for a limited period.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to the use of your personal data, and the right to receive a copy of it in a portable format. You can delete your conversation history yourself in the app, and you can delete your whole account at any time on the Account page — no email needed.
Cookies and local storage
Bel uses standard sign-in session cookies and local storage to keep you logged in while you use the site. No advertising or tracking cookies are used.
